Just breathe.

Is it already February 4? Where has the time gone?

February 4 comes with a negative connotation: 10 days until Valentines Day.

OK, so maybe it’s negative for me, but maybe it has a positive connotation for you? Who has your heart this Valentine’s Day? My prospects are zero, so I’m glad that you’re happy at least. Maybe one day that’ll be me. Melodramatic sigh.

I’ve gotten to a point where I’m just done with trying to force people (i.e. boys) to like like me (yes we did just transport back to middle school). I’ll be your friend, but I’m not going to go out of my way to get your attention. If you want my attention, you’ll take it. My friend Mindy is so awesome. She told me that her boyfriend pursued her completely. She didn’t have to do anything to get his attention; he was the one who had to work for her attention. She said that it is so much better this way because then she didn’t feel like she lured him into a relationship. She advised me to wait for the guy who will pursue me completely. What great advice.

There are so many times that I get wrapped up in grasping at shreds of affection wherever and however I can get them. It’s exhausting. I’m so done with that.

Not to sound cynical, but relationships with boys don’t always last; the relationships with your girlfriends probably will. That’s why I’m focusing on keeping my female friendships strong, and not worrying so much about my lack-of-a-boyfriend situation. Of course, the most important relationship in my life is the one I have with God. He is my Rock and my Salvation, my Fortress, the Lover of my soul. He is the only Man in my life right now, and I’m perfectly fine with that. A wise woman once told me that a woman’s heart should be so lost in God that a man needs to seek Him in order to find her. Yes please.

I believe that God has one wonderful guy out there for me, and someday I’ll meet him and we’ll live happily ever after. Until then, I can rest in the fact that God has my heart. It’s funny: sometimes God speaks to us through the most non-religious things, including a PostSecret card. Remember God’s promise that He has the best plan laid out for you, if only you’ll follow Him. <3
