Wow. It’s been almost a month since I’ve written, and my friend Elliott has been nagging me to write another post, so this is partly to appease him and partly to update you on my life. It will probably be a long post, so sit down and settle in.
I started classes for Junior year of college on Aug. 19th, and I’ve been pretty busy since Goal #20 is to get a 4.0 this year. I’ve made it a point to make sure I read every single thing my professors tell me to, even if it’s horribly boring. I’m really enjoying this newfound motivation and I hope that it carries me through the year.
I’ve been working on Goal #7, and I’m doing really well!
I’ve also been working on Goal #62 again: Have quiet time once a day for 30 days. I think I’m on day 7 or something. I forgot to keep track. It’s been amazing! I’m going through James with Shepherd’s Notes (which I mentioned in a previous post), and I’m learning so much.
Now that I’m done with updating my goals, I’ll tell you about my life a little bit:
I’ve started my Junior year of college, and it’s starting to dawn on me that I only have one and a half years left until I start student teaching, and only two years until I have to go into the real world and be an adult. That’s pretty scary.
I’m super involved with Campus Crusade for Christ at USC, and I’m on the worship team, I’m running the website, and I’m co-running the prayer team. Yes, I’m very busy. I’m also in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a service sorority (although I’m at-large this semester).
Not only that, but I’m taking 10 different courses and 19 credit hours. People usually seem surprised by my course load, but they don’t understand that 10 classes is a normal amount for a music major, which is what I am.
On top of all of that, I’m hoping to have a job this year. I say “hoping” because I’ve applied at maybe 70 different places, and no one will hire me. I’m not sure why; some places have told me they were hiring when I filled out an application, but they never called me about a job. Maybe it’s my lack of experience? What really stinks is that they say I need more experience (I’ve only had one previous job), but to get experience I need to be hired by someone. And to be hired, I need experience. Catch-22? Yes, sir.
Other than that, I’ve been having a blast at college so far. My friends and I do the most wonderful things together: we play ultimate frisbee all the time, we take day trips to Charleston, we hang out in our friend David’s apartment until 2:30am on weeknights playing improv games from “Who’s Line is it, Anyway?” Yes, college is wonderful. And I have the best friends ever.
Hopefully it won’t be another month until I write again, but who knows? Especially with my busy schedule.
In the words of my friend Justin: Deuces!
